Dear Pastors
For many years we wanted to increase the capacity of our base/regional churches to facilitate growth within the region and specifically to empower them to plant churches. One step that we recognised necessary to achieve this is the reallocation of the national budget to the regional budgets. Due to financial constraints in the past, we have not been able to do this as yet.
To achieve this, we have undergone a cost-cutting exercise to reduce our national budget. In 2017, SC contribution came down from a maximum of 24% to 15% and Apostolic Fund contributions came down from 4% to 3.1%. Our goal is to reduce the SC contribution further to a maximum of 10% and the Apostolic Fund to 2.5%. To achieve this, the Support Centre has committed in June 2019 to lowering the maximum SC contribution with 0.5% every six months, starting in December 2019.
In June 2020, the maximum SC contribution will be lowered by 0.5%. Churches with an SC contribution of over 10% will reduce their SC contribution by 0.5% that will be reallocated into a regional budget. Therefore, churches at the maximum SC contribution threshold will see a reduction in their SC contributions of 1%.
For example:
• If your SC contribution was 14% (maximum) before June 2020: your SC contribution will now be reduced to 13% and your regional contribution will be 0.5%.
• If your SC contribution was 11% before June 2020: your SC contribution will now be 10.5%, and your regional contribution will be 0.5%.
Churches will now make up to four payments every month according to the following order: salaries, SC contribution, Apostolic contribution and then regional budget contribution. The aim is to reduce SC contribution further over time so that the regional budgets can increase.
We want to thank the Support Centre for their frugal stewardship that has allowed us to reduce contributions consistently every year. We are also thankful for the faithful giving of our members even during this COVID-19 period.
