You will need:

  1. a cross border letter from the insurance (HQ finance team will help with this), as well as
  2. a cross border letter from the bank (only if vehicle is still under finance) the HQ finance team will also help with this, or otherwise a letter from the owner of the bus (and trailer) giving approval for the vehicle to leave the Republic of South Africa.
  3. You will also need to obtain a Police Clearance letter ** for the vehicle and trailer.

Please provide the following documents to finance@shofaronline.org in order to obtain both cross-border letters:

  • Description of the insured vehicle/bus used (License Plate nr & VIN nr)
  • Description of insured trailer (if Shofar trailer is used) (License Plate nr & VIN nr)
  • Starting and ending date of trip
  • Countries being visited AND passed through
  • Full names and ID numbers of all possible drivers (copies of drivers licences)

** The following details should be on the police clearance letter:

  • Vehicle details (Licence Registration number, VIN number and Engine number)
  • Period the vehicles will be used (beginning and ending date)
  • Countries it will be used in
  • Details of the drivers
